So…this happened today.

That’s right folks, after over 9 years on APU’s campus yours truly finally graced the screens of morning chapel. And I have these few things to say about the experience.
#1 You can make it from your assigned seat on East campus in Upper Turner to another assigned seat in the Event Centre on west campus before the required 3 songs of worship is over.
# 2 Thousands of people attend chapel, that’s a lot of people. The good thing is the stage lights only allow you to see about half of them.
# 3 My voice sounds entirely different when I hear it played back to me.
# 4 Even though it was incredibly nerve wracking and I forgot to talk about this one thing that I had planned to talk about, God was glorified in what we did together today as the Center for Student Action at Azusa Pacific University.
# 5 I realized that my “speaking engagement” is part of the process of leaving the legacy of Ireland teams behind at APU. It’s a distinct possibility that I will be moving to Ireland this coming summer, which means I have no plans to lead a team this year. It will be the first time I haven’t led a team since 2009. Casting the vision for ministry in Ireland in chapel today is part of me leaving this legacy in the capable hands of the APU Center for Student Action.
# 6 Fidgetting and talking with your hands seems ten times as annoying on camera.
Actual quote from Dublin Airport
” hey Tom, give me some of that funny money so I can buy something?
Tom:” huh?”
” you know what they use here?”
I’m officially embarrassed to be American.
